Things to see and do
  • Sit at a pavement café in the Ribeira district. Have a Super Bock and a few Tremoços and simply enjoy the moment...
  • Take the tram in the city centre to the Alegre Tower, in Foz do Douro (line 1). Then explore this beautiful region where the Douro River meets the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Take a cruise under the bridges of the river Douro in the typical "barcos Rabelo" that once transported Port wine.
  • Book lunch to eat a francesinha (meaning young French girl), one of the most typical dishes of Porto. This is a type of meat sandwich with a special sauce, whose recipe is a closely guarded secret...
  • Treat yourself to a delicious pastry in one of the city's many bakeries. It's impossible to remain indifferent to any of the window displays... Irresistible!
  • Nothing is better than a visit to the Bolhão market to meet the most authentic people of Porto! Enjoy the smells, colours and sounds of this unique and special place...
  • Visit the Museum of Contemporary Art of Serralves and its inspirational gardens. Admission is free on Sunday morning.
  • Visit the art galleries of Miguel Bombarda Street. Every two months, they organise a simultaneous inauguration on Saturday, with music and street entertainment. A must see!
  • Visit a magical place... The Lello bookshop is a key location in the city. It is considered one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world!
  • Visit Palácio da Bolsa do Porto, considered one of the finest buildings of Porto and one of the richest in Portugal. It is here that heads of state visiting the city are received.
  • Cross the Dom Luis I Bridge at Vila Nova de Gaia. Here you will find all kinds of bars and restaurants with panoramic views of the port. Perfect for a romantic dinner.
  • Schedule a visit to the Port wine cellars and enjoy this delicious drink. Of course, you will want to return!
  • Go to a concert in the House of Music, a fantastic architectural masterpiece designed by the Dutchman, Rem Koolhaas.
