The Auvergne region

Its many facets, fashioned by time and humans, make it a land of freedom, ideal for discovery and adventure. Here, nature offers up its full glory, wide plains and medium mountain ranges with alpine or more accessible terrains, resulting mostly from volcanic eruptions that took place over millions of years.

Lakes, peaceful thousand year old oak or other woodlands are ideal places to get away from it all. Rivers and streams were born in these mountains, others simply cross them. Spring, mineral or thermal waters, used since ancient times, spring up here and there.

In the air, hot air ballooning or paragliding, trekking in all its forms, on the water - canoeing, rafting, or fishing -, summer and winter, the region offers a broad variety of outdoor activities. Theme parks are also great places to discover or have fun.

The Auvergne is also a land of hospitality, with men and women who have managed to preserve its heritage and architectural treasures. Picturesque towns and villages, Romanesque churches with pure and majestic forms, and fortified or residential castles have flourished throughout the area. Artisans that may be encountered in many villages perpetuate skills and traditions.
